It is not the function of the FRA to provide a detailed history of the Abbey. However, as there is considerable work underway at present making a photographic record of graffiti, visitors to our site may be interested to see the results of earlier work on Corbels and other abbey carvings in the link below:
Pilgrims and visitors from all over the world come to this holy place. Romsey Abbey contributes significantly to the local community and is one of the major reasons for visiting the historic market town.
Like all great buildings, though, the Abbey depends on the generosity of the public and today, more than ever, we need your support to help ensure that its ministry and fabric are maintained and enhanced, now and long into the future.
The Friends of Romsey Abbey, formed in 2009, invites you to respond to the inspiration of this place and to join a vibrant network of people who are interested in and care about the Abbey and its ministry.
