Our bi-monthly coffee mornings at the Town Hall are proving very popular, as the photos below show. The next one takes place between 10am and noon onFriday 18 May.
On Tuesday 1st May, we visited Gilbert White’s House and Oates Museum at Selborne. We left Romsey at 10am and returned around 5pm after a fascinating day out.
On Tuesdays 23 October and 6 November, two parties of Friends visited the National Air Traffic Control Centre, Swanwick. They were fascinated by what they saw and learned, and felt much more confident to travel by air now they understand more fully all the care taken to make sure that incidents should never happen.
Winchester has a wonderful heritage of medieval carvings and also some extremely old furniture. This was a fascinating tour; the guides were excellent.
. We toured in small groups so that everyone could see properly.
We left Church Place, Romsey, after lunch. Following the tour, we were entertained to a very enjoyable tea by the Friends of Winchester Cathedral in the Prior’s Hall, then stayed on for Evensong before heading for home.
We hope you enjoyed the Abbey’s Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, which took place on Wednesday 21 December. With timeless readings, music from the Abbey Choir and lots of favourite carols, there was indeed something for everybody.
On 17 November, we climbed above the Abbey’s lofty nave to the ringing chamber, where the bellringers gave us a demonstration. Hot chocolate was also served.
