Sunday May 11 saw over 50 members of the Friends of Romsey Abbey gather together in the Church Rooms for their Annual General Meeting.  Their President Revd. Canon Thomas Wharton opened the formalities with a welcome and the Friends’ Prayer.  Reviews of the year were covered with reports on projects, events, membership as well as finance.  Chair of the Friends, Jill Hall, in her review commented on the fact that since its inception in 2009, the Friends have donated over £100,00 to the Abbey for a range of projects.   Jill was re-elected as Chair as were the other officers – Dick Hewett, Vice-Chair and Treasurer as well as i/c Events, Mike Prince i/c projects and Rosemary Barker as Secretary.  In addition the remaining Trustees were also voted on and the formal part of the afternoon was completed.

A delicious afternoon tea with cream scones and a range of tasty cakes was served with the option of tea or coffee.  This was followed by a Choral Evensong in the Abbey which featured the Friends as a theme.
