The Friends of Romsey Abbey was established in 2009 to bring together those who love and support the Abbey. It is the vision of the Friends that we should develop the friendship and partnership of everyone in the town and community beyond, to enhance and enrich the life and outreach of the Abbey. The Abbey is not just a beautiful, historical building but a family of people who want to develop links with children and young families as well as older residents who are sometimes more isolated, as well as encourage more visitors to the Abbey.
The Friends is a strong, active organisation which has a wonderful variety of fun events open to all, which encourage people to get to know each other. Becoming a member opens a host of opportunities, including social events, exciting visits to places of interest, talks, coffee mornings and a twice yearly newsletter to keep you in touch with what is happening.
The Friends raise money through subscriptions, donations and social events, to pay for important and necessary projects that enhance the visitor attraction. The Friends are not responsible for the maintenance of the building, for which there is a separate Romsey Abbey fund. Since its conception, the Friends have made contributions in excess of £90,000. We extend a warm welcome to all who would like to join us.
