Terry Hamer, Town Crier for Romsey enlightened those at the July Coffee Morning on the background to how he became the Town Crier and informed us all that he has held that post for 21 years that week. Terry is such a well known figure in Romsey and joins us at each Coffee Morning spending part of his time in his regalia informing those in the town of their opportunity to join our Coffee Morning.
Terry’s entry to the role came about when he was encouraged to take part in a competition to find a town crier and it was to his surprise that he won. As a result, he is kept busy in Romsey heralding events and news. His well trained vocal chords come in useful at the Coffee Mornings when the raffle is drawn – no chance to miss what number has been called.
