An afternoon guided visit to this very historic church, followed by cream tea in the Church Hall, provided by the Mothers’ Union. Depart Romsey 1.30 pm return by 5.00 pm. Led by Dick Hewett. £15 including minibus, donation to church and cream tea. Payment with booking. Just a few spaces available.
The church is situated at the top of a hill. It is believed there was a Saxon church there built for and endowed by a local landowner. The Great Yew-Tree, 15 feet in girth in 1793 is now more than 20 feet. It was carbon dated in the mid 1980’s and a certificate stating it is over 1,000 years old can be found on the wall of the church by the font
