Strawberry tea and Evensong

On Sunday 26 August at 4.30pm, by kind invitation of the Revd Tim and Mrs Caroline Sledge, Friends were invited to enjoy a Strawberry Tea in the Vicarage garden.

This was followed by the Friends’ Evensong in the Abbey at 6.30pm. The choir Cantatrice sang Evensong for us.

Fishbourne and Chichester Harbour

On Wednesday 6 June, we spent a full day visiting Fishbourne Roman Palace followed by a water tour of Chichester Harbour.

The weather was changeable weather – rather reminiscent of the Thames royal pageant – but we were part of a Jubilee Sail Past at Itchenor. It was a great day, both at Fishbourne Roman Palace and at Itchenor.

2012 Annual General Meeting

This took place at 7.30pm on Tuesday 19th June in the Abbey.

The speaker was Mr Brian David, Secretary of the Friends of Chichester Cathedral. Members enjoyed chatting over a glass of wine after the formal business concluded.

Visit to Selborne

On Tuesday 1st May, we visited Gilbert White’s House and Oates Museum at Selborne. We left Romsey at 10am and returned around 5pm after a fascinating day out.

Visit to Swanwick Air Traffic Control Centre

On Tuesdays 23 October and 6 November, two parties of Friends visited the National Air Traffic Control Centre, Swanwick. They were fascinated by what they saw and learned, and felt much more confident to travel by air now they understand more fully all the care taken to make sure that incidents should never happen.
